HMD Receives AIP for Feeder Containership Design

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) received the approval in principle (AIP) from DNV GL for the design of a feeder containership, at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg, Germany.

 

The project called “Con-Green 2000” was jointly developed by HMD, DNV GL, Man Diesel & Turbo, and Becker Marine Systems.

 

The newly developed environmentally friendly feeder containership meets DNV GL’s new regulations - IACS S11A and S34.

 

It features high fuel efficiency, high quality and low maintenance costs.

 

Compared to a ship of the same size, the containership proved to have ultimate operation capability, the ability to reduce approximately 13.7 percent of fuel consumption and increase its speed to 0.55 knots.
