Naming for H0049

HMD held a naming ceremony for a 45,000-dwt Product/Chemical tanker (H0049) ordered by Bakri of Saudi Arabia at Quay No. 1 on June 16, 2003.

Mr. K .H. Yu, president of HMD, owners' representatives, class surveyors and others attended the ceremony to celebrate its successful construction.

It was named the “QURTTUBA”. The vessel was designed to have a length of 183m, a width of 32m, and a depth of 18m with a service speed of 15 knots.

QURTTUBA, the second ship for Bakri, sailed out toward Singapore to load her first shipment of methanol after the naming ceremony. Bakri is one of the most prominent private shipping companies with more than 40 PCs in Saudi Arabia.

As of June, HMD has already delivered 16 unit of product/chemical carriers, 2 bulk carriers, and 2 containers.
