Having already reached its annual sales target in the first quarter of this year, HMD continues to enjoy brisk sales in the second quarter, winning an order for four 2,824-TEU containerships from Reederei Claus-Peter Offen GmbH & Co. of Germany. The ships will measure 222.14m in length, 30m in width and 16.8m in depth. They will each be delivered from October 2006 to March 2007 at two-to three-month intervals. Notably, recognized for having the best performance and dimensions in the market, HMD’s sub-panamax containerships have garnered premium prices from the shipowners.

The shipowner, Reederei Claus-Peter Offen, was founded in 1971, and is one of the most reputable liner companies in the shipping industry with a 73-vessel fleet, which includes fifteen 8,000-TEU containerships on-order.

With its growing number of orders for sub-panamax containerships, industry experts believe HMD has succeeded in entering the medium-sized containership market following its successful entry into the medium range product/chemical tanker market.
