HMD is consolidating its position in sub-panamax and panamax containership market more and more. On February 26, 2004, HMD signed a contract for eight sub-panamax containerships with E. R. Schiffahrt of Germany.

HMD has so far received orders for 16 vessels of the same class & type from E. R. Schiffahrt. The eight vessels measuring 222m in length and 30m in breadth are scheduled for delivery by 2007.

HMD will make good use of this awarding as an opportunity to take a leading position in containership market as it has already done in MR PC market.
