HMD received the "2003 World-class Product" Award from Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) in recognition of its development of handy class product carrier, outstanding technology and expertise.

The ministry also honored HMD's dedicated commitment to Korea's exports and national competitiveness. The award ceremony was held in Kwachon Government Complex.

As of the end of 2003, HMD enjoyed number one MR PC market share (32.5%) in the world, which is a 7% increase over 2002. (based on Clarkson research)

HMD is expected to enhance its position in the MR PC market even more since 106 of the 136 ships on its orderbook are product carriers.

HMD has achieved this feat by developing environmentally friendly and economical ship type of its own that meets international rules and regulations.

Especially, HMD's product carrier is better suited for shipowner's multipurpose needs because it can carry not only petroleum products but also chemical products & other liquids such as bean oil.

HMD's product carrier is double-hulled and verified by major classification societies for its safety and environmentally friendliness. It also boasts the largest tank capacity and highest speed among PCs ofsame type and size.
