HMD won a "$1 Billion Export" prize

On Nov.26, 2004, HMD won the "$1 Billion Export" prize which is awarded by the government to the enterprises with impressive export performance on the 41st anniversary of International Trade Day. HMD has been registering remarkable growth in sales since it initiated a campaign for diversification of business in 1996 while winning "$300 Million Export" prize, "$500 Million Export" prize and "$900 Million Export" prize in 1999, 2001 and 2003 respectively.

In particular, it is expected that HMD's sales will sharply expand next year as it plans to use a 400,000-dwt dock for newbuilding that is currently being used for ship repairs.

Now, HMD is contributing much to the national economic development, as it's total exports account for 99% of the total sales.

This surprising achievement is attributable to the success of business diversification into shipbuilding while consolidating its prime position in MR PC and accumulating its fame in sub-panamax containership.
