HMD enjoys Massive Orders

HMD received substantial amount of orders totalling 20 container vessels from the very beginning of this year. HMD took in an order for twenty 1,800 TEU class containerships including options for fourteen from Messrs. Reederei Claus-Peter Offen GmbH & Co on Jan. 13, 2005. All those vessels will be delivered starting from August 2007 in respective order.

With those contracts, HMD consolidated the berth occupation up to the end of 2007.

Messrs. Offen was founded in 1971 and owns 80 containerships including fifteen over 8,000 TEU Containerships. The owner had already concluded contracts for eight 2,800 TEU Containerships with HMD last year.

To finalize this deal, HMD developed the project for 10 months and competed with a Chinese yard that proposed a better price at the very last moment. However, the superior quality and international reliability of HMD persuaded the owner to sign the contracts with them.

Now, all that is left to HMD is to become a respected shipyard in the field of mid size container vessels.
