HMD Received Massive Orders

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) added more ships to its orderbook with receiving massive orders of 17 containerships recently.

HMD took in an order for five 4,300-teu containerships from Norddeutsche Vermogen Holding Gmbh & Co. KG at HMD's main building on Feb. 21 and signed another contract for a 2,824-teu containership with Orix Maritime Corp. on the same day.

Besides, HMD received another substantial amount of orders for eleven containerships during February except the above six. They consist of six 1,800-teu containerships from Reederei Claus-Peter Offen on Feb. 10, three 3,450-teu containerships from P&O Nedlloyd B.V. on Feb. 18 and two 2,824-teu containerships from Cido Shipping Co., Ltd. on Feb. 18 respectively.

Now, HMD has been awarded total thirty-one ships of orders including eight options so far in 2005 with its position strengthened even more in containership new-building market.
