HMD Builds First Dual-Fuel Propelled Ship
HMD held a keel laying ceremony for the first of two 50,000 DWT product/chemical tankers ordered from Westfal-Larsen on November 25. It is HMD’s first attempt to build a dual-fuel propulsion system on a vessel and expects to deliver it in April 2016.
The tanker is equipped with a dual-fuel engine, which prevents environmental pollution including Nox and Sox when using Methanol. Also to strengthen water resistance, In-organic Zinc Sillicatei is built in the 14 cargo tanks. It measures 186 m in length, 32 m in width, and 19 m in height.
