HMD received the Value Innovation Award in the national quality award portion of the 31st National Quality Management Convention sponsored by Korean Standard Association (KSA) on December 7 at Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX).

The Value Innovation Award selects companies that product remarkable results through effective promotion of value engineering activities, while increasing product value through improving functions and cutting costs.

HMD, ranked No. 1 in the ship repair sector, has successfully entered into newbuilding business. In addition, HMD took the largest share in the mid-size newbuilding industry in a very short period of time.

The product carrier is HMD's strategic ship and accounts for over 50% in the world market. It was also selected as the World Best Product by the Korean government in 2003.

Mr. Song Jae-byoung, president & CEO of HMD, said "HMD's Product Carriers have high reputation among the global tanker market. HMD will lead world tanker market and step into high value added ships securing a firm position in the global shipbuilding."
