In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the yard, HMD held a big festival at Dong Chon Stadium on September 30, 2005, attended by its customers, colleagues, superintendents and their families. In the opening address, President, Choi Kil-Seon announced a medium-tem business plan to achieve turnover of US$4 billion and establish 70 vessel production system per year by 2010.

Followed by his address, the Union Leader also stressed the importance of harmony and cooperation between management and labor to boost the company's competitiveness in the future. The festival consisted of several shows by famous entertainers as well as games played by colleagues and foreigners.
