At the 20th Technical Trainee Recruitment, the number of applicants was two times more than the admissions quota, reflecting the popularity of the HMD Technical Education Institute (TEI).

According to application status, 250 persons applied for 120 shipbuilding and 80 for 25 coating positions. The institute expects more people to apply in the future. 1,271 trainees have graduated from HMD TEI since its opening in December 2000. Among the graduates, 777 currently work at HMD and its in-house subcontractors and 400 are employed at other shipbuilding companies.
