On September 4th, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) received an order for 17 ships of three ship types. HMD received orders for two 46,000-dwt and three 37,000-dwt product carriers from a Singapore owner. The company also contracted eight 2,000 TEU containerships and four 10,800-dwt Ro-Ro vessels with European owner. These orders bring HMD's 2007 new orders to a total of 94 vessels, including 20 PCTCs and 15 Ro-Ro vessels.

HMD has grown to become the world's number one builder of PC carriers. The company has continued to evolve into higher value-added vessels. Actively anticipating changes in the market, HMD entered into the LPG carrier market in 2006 and the PCTC and Ro-Ro vessel markets in 2007. As a result, HMD could continue to build a sustainable foundation for its business by increasing its product range.
