Three ships delivered by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) this year were among ‘the Outstanding Ships of 2007’ as selected by Naval Architects, a leading technical journal in England. HMD has had at least one ship selected for this award for 7 consecutive years, since entering the shipbuilding market in 1996. Over that time 13 HMD vessels have been selected as outstanding ships. This year, the three ships selected were a product carrier (Atrotos) and two containerships (Ital Mattina and Cap Palmerston). Atrotos is a 47,000-dwt product carrier with an Ice Class 1A design, ordered by Barclay Shipping of Greece. Ital Mattina is a 4300 TEU containership for German owner E.R. Schiffahrt. Cap Palmerston is an 1800 TEU containership for CP Offen of Germany.
