Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) volunteers went to Taean, which was severely polluted by an oil spill.

More than 50 volunteers from HMD headed to the damaged district for cleanup. They joined other volunteers in removing polluted sediment from the Manri-Po swimming beach for two days.

Braving cold weather, they rubbed oil off of beach pebbles and scooped oil-soaked sand into buckets. They also collected contaminated oysters in garbage sacks. Volunteers had to wear protective clothing with long rubber boots. HMD supplied lots of equipment including gloves, masks, boots, and buckets.
