Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) held a ceremony celebrating the New Year on January 3 in its auditorium. More than 1000 people attended the ceremony. Mr. Song Jae-byoung, CEO of HMD, announced new areas of emphasis for 2008, including “a new economic take off, harmony and cooperation, and a safe workshop.” He also presented major company goals, such as earning more than US $6 billion in new orders and delivering 70 vessels. As domestic and international economies are unstable in 2008, he stressed that all employees will need to work together in order for HMD to maintain its standing in the shipbuilding world. Meanwhile, a meeting for safety resolutions for 2008 was held separately, with all staff and employees swearing to make 2008 a safe and healthy year.
