HMD held its first naming ceremony of 2008 and took its first step in reaching its goal of delivering 70 vessels (47 PCs, 21 Containerships, and 2 LPG Carriers) this year. On January 4, HMD held naming ceremonies for two containerships. The vessels are the seventh and eighth of twelve 1800 TEU containerships ordered by Claus-Peter Offen of Germany in 2004. The seventh containership was named ‘San Amerigo’, and the eighth, ‘San Andres’. Many guests from HMD and Offen were onhand to celebrate the first delivery of 2008. The ships measure 186.3m in length, 27.6m in width, 17.1m in depth, and are equipped with three 45-ton cranes, enable the ships to load and unload containers themselves.
