On Dec. 5th, the 44th anniversary of International Trade Day, HMD earned the "$2 Billion in Exports" award from the Korean government. HMD has registered remarkable growth since initiating its campaign to diversify its business in 1996, earning the "$300 Million in Exports", "$500 Million in Exports", "$900 Million in Exports", and "$1 Billion in Exports" awards in 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2004, respectively.

HMD’s achievement is attributable to the success of its shipbuilding business diversification while consolidating its prime position in MR PCs (Medium-Range Product Carriers) and earning a stellar reputation in Sub-Panamax containerships. HMD's sales are expected to increase sharply this year as it plans to build LPG Carriers and PCTCs.
