Hyundai-Vinashin Shipyard (HVS) in Vietnam, a subsidiary of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), received an order from Nordcapital of Germany for four 56,000-dwt Bulk Carriers. The ships will measure 187m in length, 32.26m in width, 18.3m in depth, and have a service speed of 14.5 knots. This increases the HVS backlog of 56,000-dwt Bulk Carriers to 14.

Since its establishment in 1996, HVS has been managed by HMD, repairing more than 860 vessels including converting over 20 PCTCs. HVS began its newbuilding business with a contract for ten 56,000-dwt Bulk Carriers in 2007, with the first steel cutting to start in August of 2008. HMD will support the new building business of HVS.
