As employment conditions, triggered by the severe economic downturn, have been turning from bad to worse recently, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) made its retiring fieldworkers the object of envy of others by re-employing them for one more year. The re-hired workers have an extra year to make a contribution to HMD and self-improvement. Last year, HMD’s labor union and management reached a mutual agreement to re-hire 47 workers among 58 prospective retirees for the year of 2008.

With the re-employment, the re-hired workers have one more year to transfer their expertise and experiences to their fellow workers. The labor union and management of HMD agreed for the re-employment of retirees on the condition of the workers’ good health.
