The block assembly of the first ship of the Open Hatch General Cargo Carrier [OHGCC] series has commenced in Dock No. 4. On February 24th, HMD held the keel laying ceremony for Hull No. 8001, the first in the series of 49,000-dwt OHGCCs for Grieg Shipping Group in Norway. The ship measures 208.2m in length, 32.2m in breadth, 19.5m in depth. Unlike general bulk carriers, OHGCC can load various kinds of cargo such as pulp, roll-paper, and pipes. Two gantry cranes will be installed on top of the deck which enable OHGCCs to load and unload cargo at small ports which are not equipped with loading systems.
