Keel Laying for the First PCTC and Steel Cutting for the First Con-Ro
The Keel Laying ceremony for HMD’s first PCTC was held on March 13th and block fabrication started in earnest. Hull No. 8032, which is the first 10,900-dwt PCTC ship of four in a series for VROON, can carry 3,500 cars on 10 decks including two liftable decks. Launching and delivery are scheduled for the middle of May and August respectively. The Hull Production Department had a conference for Hull No. 8032 to discuss effective methods to carry out the work efficiently. Steel cutting for the first 24,400-dwt vessel in the Con-Ro series for GRIMALDI took place on March 13th.
