The First Roll-On/Roll-Off Carrier’s Steel Cutting
HMD commenced steel cutting on a new type of Ro-Ro carrier, pure car/truck carrier and open hatch general cargo carrier. The ceremony for the first Ro-Ro carrier took place on July 13. The ship is the first of ten 10,800DWT Ro-Ro carriers for GRIMALDI of Italy.
This new Ro-Ro carrier is designed to save loading/unloading time and cost ny using trucks of trailers for its cargo shipping and discharging. It is 200m in length, 26.5m in width and 23.2m in depth and will be delivered in April 2010.
