49,270DWT self-unloading bulk carrier, M/V “GYPSUM CENTENNIAL” was delivered to the Owner of Gypsum Transportation Ltd.(GTL) located in Bermuda, a subsidiary of United States Gypsum Company, USA, on November 15, 2001.

The self-unloading system to be installed on the vessel was designed to handle a large variety of materials at a discharge rate limited to 2,500 m3/hour or 3,000MT/hour and unload four grades of gypsum rock, coal, limestone, etc.

The vessel was HMD’s 2nd self-unloading bulk carrier newbuilding backed up by skills accumulated during the successful conversion of 10 bulk carriers into self-unloading vessels over a period of more than 25 years.

The 1st self-unloading bulk carrier built in HMD was M/V “WESER STAHL” delivered to Marbulk Shipping Inc. USA on November 18, 1999.
