HMD won the 'world best shipbuilding yard' Award at the ceremony organized by Lloyd's List Maritime Asia, a trade journal published by a leading shipping & shipbuilding daily, Lloyd's List.
The prize was created in 1999 by Lloyd's List Maritime Asia to foster the exchange of information between Asian shipbuilding and maritime companies and HMD got awarded the 'world best shiprepair yard' for the second successive year, in 1999, 2000.
Lloyd's List, Lloyd's List Maritime Asia, and Lloyd's Freight Transport Buyer Asia nominated final candidates by vote, and then a group of reputable maritime panelists chose the most appropriate among the candidates.
A reliable source in Lloyd’s List Maritime Asia said, “The prize has been awarded in consideration of the successful deliveries of the sophisticated specialized vessels such as cable layers and product/chemical tankers within the shortest period of newbuilding experience.” By winning the award this time, HMD has come to enjoy its reputation as the most reliable shipyard in the world building medium-sized and specialized vessels.
